Hello

I've been using my canon SD990IS with an ikelite housing for a couple of months, pics are good, but I really want a strobe; I'm planning to upgrade to a canon G10 (G11 maybe?) next year (since the housing for mi rebel XTi is really expensive)

The Ike Af-35 seems like a good deal Ikelite | AF-35 Kit | 4035 | B&H Photo Video but I don't want to buy a strobe that won't be good for my next camera.

What do you guys think? is the strobe good for my current camera? Will it work fine for my next one?

Thanks

Get an Inon or a YS Sea&Sea or a larger Ikelite. The AF35 is a very limited strobe, not very powerful or adaptable and narrow coverage. N

Inon and S&S angle of coverage is not much better until you get to the bigger S&S strobe. There are 2 measurements in the industry for angle of coverage. Ikelite and exaggerated japan. I would recommend the DS-160 Ike strobe.

I will stick with what I said, I have seen the AF35 in operation and compared to my D2000 it has a very narrow coverage and it is very weak and lacks adaptability for use with more sophisticated cameras the OP asked about.

Here is a link from another gentleman, note that the AF35 has a GN2. That is pretty weak and coupled with the very real narrow coverage means this is a very limited strobe.

BTW, I have measured the coverage of my strobes, the D2000 is in the range of what it claims, maybe a bit more, the YS strobes are a good choice also.
