So got this tray for Christmas and while it comes with the mounts for ikelite housings, it has a spot for a standard tripod mount, but I'm not sure what exactly it uses. Anyone familiar with this tray?

The central mounting location is 1/4-20 threaded for the attachment of non-Ikelite tripods or other compatible accessories. At this time we do not offer any accessories that specifically mount to this location. The 1/4-20 threaded holes to each side of the tray are intended for the attachment of a PRO-2800 or Pro Video 3 battery pack.

Kind Regards,

Wow. Talk about a useless feature. Why would anyone want to put an -underwater- camera tray on a tripod? And the fact Ikelite isn't providing the ability to use this tray with standard tripod mount cases is incredibly short sighted.

While I'm at it, Ikelite's website is a mess and makes it incredibly difficult to determine what stem mount is needed for this tray's handles for use with some of the common strobe arms available from makers like Ultralight

The answer is, anyone who is interested in Underwater macro video or stable wide angle reef scenes, need a tripod. Otherwise your footage will be crap. With DSLR video becoming so popular, this is in big demand now. And the sensor of DSLR's is not forgiving on camera shake. For Wide Angle, you can make it work without a tripod, but marco requires it. I am currently trying to figure out a solution to make my Ike housing (with the old handles) work with the XIT404 tripod....
