This poll derives from the several other threads that discuss whether or not divers should touch marine life. In other words, it is a touching subject!

I'm interested in determining the gender of those who have a hard and fast rule against touching marine life. I'm interested in the breakdown on this issue, and have certain assumptions, but as a scientist will remain as objective as I can on the issue until the data are in.

Once I analyze these data, I will write a journal article for Nature, Science or The Journal of Irreproducible Results on this study.

I am offended that I cannot participate in this poll.:D

Heh, heh... neither can I so you're in good company!

In order to be politically correct this poll needs more options... ;)

Not a particularly informative poll, unless you know what percentage of the scuba world is female/male, in fact even on that basis, females may be statistically more or less likely to respond to polls than males.

I think that classifying one of the choices 'my personal favorite' destroyed any illusion of 'scientific' research! eyebrow

I never touch... Unless I want to eat it! Is that good enough to participate?...

I do not like to be groped and fondled by complete strangers and since I don't speak the language of marine life I cannot introduce myself to them which makes me a stranger in their world. Following the "do unto others" principle I do not grope strangers therefore I keep my paws off the wildlife.

Naturally I secure permission before groping creatures whose language I do speak as some of them enjoy this. (Get your minds out of the gutters boys, I'm talking about petting dogs :D )
