New to SB, new to the prairies too. Lots of ice on these lakes, but can't seem to find anyone diving under it...maybe the ice is so thick one would just auger right into the muck...

When you can walk on top of the surface of the snow, it has been cold.
When you can walk on top of the surface of the water, it has been cold for a long time!
When you carve a hole in the surface of the water, so you can dive, it has been cold for way too long!
:shakehead:

So I found a picture of myself screwing around under Lake Minniwanka in Banff. The irony here is that I used to spend more time climbing ice in the mountains, now I try to climb across the underside of mountain lakes.

It's hard to fin while wearing crampons,(zero propulsion) and hard to swing ice tools underwater...

If god didn't want me under the ice, he wouldn't have invented chainsaws...
