Have some work coming up in Minn. probably late February in Blaine. Looking to dive through or under the ice. Do any marina dock areas keep water open with Aquatherms? I hear it gets pretty frickin freezin up there-I'm from NH. It's not too hard to find an open dock or ice dive going on in a pinch. I'm assuming a quickie solo dive from open access with short swim under ice. Overhead rules will apply. Any insight appreciated. Scott

Ice diving in the upper midwest is a different critter. Not likely you will find open water in MN. Ice diving in this neck of the woods usually involves cutting a hole in the ice. Then I wouldn't even think about going in without a tender on the surface while a rope is attached to you on a harness. If there is one thing we hate doing, it is going in to fish out a lost diver. It is not worth the risk.
