Some images from today's ice dive. Ice was still a good 10 inches.

pufferfish:Nice pics Warren. The vis looks quite good there. What is the depth to the plane? Any reg recommendations after a 'season' under the ice?
Eric__U:where is Kirkfield Quarry? How far from toronto
The viz was pretty decent - although I thought it was a little worse than when I went two weeks ago. But really, I think it was just due to lower light penetration due to a couple inches of snow on top of the ice layer. Last time, the ice was as smooth as glass with only a dusting of snow. But it was a good dive nonetheless.pufferfish:Nice pics Warren. The vis looks quite good there. What is the depth to the plane? Any reg recommendations after a 'season' under the ice?
There's actually a drainage trench that runs through the middle of the quarry, where weeds have grown and a lot of the fish hang out. If you're lucky, you can reach 30 feet. I think I hit that once last year.d33ps1x:That's the best I've ever seen the vis there!
The depth to the plane is about 25 feet. If you bring a shovel and swim to the middle of kirkfield quarry you can scrape out 29 or 30 max.
Basically what d33ps1x says. I took 404 up to Davis drive, then accross to 48 and then north to Kirkfield. 48 turns a couple of times as it merges briefly with 12. Just past the locks, you turn right onto a gravel road that goes for a minute or so, then there is a gate on the right hand side that leads into the quarry. You have to call ahead to make sure that the gate is open. Ken Wilson is the guy to speak to. $5 and a signed waiver is all you'll need. PM me if you want the number.Eric__U:where is Kirkfield Quarry? How far from toronto
