I won a new BC today!

I was at my LDS annual picnic, and we had a treasure hunt. We had to dive out in Lake Michigan and look for numbered golf balls. Everyone that found one was put into a drawing for lots of nice stuff. I won the grand prize:

A Mares Limited Edition Morphos Metal BC (#559/2000)

But I don't know what to do with it. First of all, I just bought a new BC in January, and I really like it. Second, it's a medium, and I wear a large or xlarge. The LDS owner said that it looked like a different cumberbund should make it fit just fine. After trying it on, it definately is a very large medium, and he's probably right. I mentioned not needing a BC, but needing a new gear bag. That would be quite the deal for him, since the bag is significantly cheaper than the BC, but he didn't seem to interested.

I am going to the LDS on Monday to talk with him. What do you think? I don't want to sound greedy, since I won it for free...but it's a shame to have such a nice piece of equipment sit around unused.

First, don't loose sleep over it, you had a lucky day! If you don't need it, sell it, and buy somthing you want/need. I think the e-bay idea is a great one! Good for you!

I agree. Nothing to feel badly about. Your LDS might even work out a good trade for you.

Maybe you could auction it off on your podcast or re-gift it for a charity dive/pumpkin carving/raffle...

or you could wear your uniform to the dive shop and "talk" to the owner about trading the BC for a gear bag. Be sure to show him how shiny your gun is

I guess I'll wait until Monday to see what he says. By the way, is it worth keeping? I love my Mares regulator, so I'm sure it's really a nice piece of gear.

You can do as suggested and sell it on Ebay or hang onto it as a spair in case you have someone dive with you that needs one.

Id talk to the LDS owner and see if he will swap it, he will either say yes or now. It was your lucky day, enjoy it.
