When I took my class in August, I got some minor barotrauma in my ear. It felt clogged a lot. The DAN doctor said it just had a little fluid in it no damage though. He said as long as I could equalize easy I would be fine. Now since then any alergy problems or colds it starts to clog again and then goes away. I never even developed allergies till I started diving. It is like I opened my eustacian tubes up more than they ever were and now they are sensitive.

I've only been diving since April 04. I noticed I had troubleclearing at first. I got better at it but frequent diving ( a couple days a week) left my ears bothering me in kind of a mild way all the time. Now after about 80 dives they seem to have gotten used to it.

It may just be that you've started doing something new and it will take time for the body to adjust to it. I figured in my case the tube have toughened up after about 50 dives.

I had a nondiving ear infection, and had to have my eardrum lanced to relieve inner ear infection. This happened before i started diving. It took a while before i could equilize that ear, due to scar tissue. It use to feel clogged, e.t.c. What it takes is, repeated shallow dives to get the eardrum "limbered up." Just take it easy, deep enough to be comfortable, a little deeper each time. If it hurts, it's not good. Now after 100 dives, it works just as good as the other.
