The Magician and the Parrot
A magician worked on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. The audience was different each week, so the magician simply did the same tricks over and over again. However, there was a small problem - the captain's parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the magician did his "magic". Once he understood how each trick was done, he started shouting out the secretis in the middle of the shows:
"Look, it's not the same hat."
"Look, he's hiding the flowers under the table."
"Hey, why are all the cards the Ace of Spades?"
"Look, there's a wire holding it up" and so on. The magician was furious and came to hate the bird, but he couldn't do very much about it because, after all, it was the captain's parrot.
One day the ship hit a reef and sank. The magician found himself alone with the parrot, adrift on a life raft in the middle of the ocean. They stared at each other with glowering hatred, but didn't utter a word. This went on for a day, then another, and another.
Finally, after a week the parrot said, "OK, I give up... Where's the fekkin' ship then?"
