If you've already filed a patent, that's a good first step, but remember patent grants typically take more than a year to get approved, and often get tossed back for revisions that need to be made. Since you're asking the question, I'm sure you know that having a patent doesn't really mean anything; you have to get to the point of actually selling something eventually (licensing the patent is a good way to go sometimes). Product development is usually a long, slow, frustrating process, but a hellofa lot of fun
