Same here. I was very sadden this morning when I heard he had passed away. I grew up watching him and learned so much.

Every now & then I will cuddle on the couch with a nephew or niece and watch his show.

He will be missed! ;-0

You don't find many good, wholesome shows on like that anymore.

I still remember that train and caboose moving around as being the coolest thing!

I'll sure miss him :(

Sorry that he died but I never liked my kids watching Mr. Rogers. Look at it this way, if he showed up as the babysitter would you leave your kids with him? Not me, he was weird. But then I never liked Barney either.

Didn't he have to register before he could become your neighbor?
We liked Capt. Noah (Phila. area) and Capt. Kangaroo. Much better then those telitubbies (sp?)....they were weird.

I was hoping this thread wasn't going to slam him. Glad to see it's not heading that way.
I didn't watch him when I was growing up, but all 3 of my children did. He seemed like a very kind, gentle man. I didn't find him weird, he was just soft spoken. Pee Wee Herman was weird & creepy. My kids all enjoyed his Mr. Rogers shows, when they were little. The trolley & the Land of Make Believe, they loved all of that.
Then they got to the age when he was very uncool. Almost all those PBS kid shows became uncool at a certain age. The only 2 that are somewhat acceptable to them now are Thomas The Tank Engine and the Teletubbies. I must admit that I enjoy both of those too. My favorite part of the Mister Rogers show was when you'd see how they made things. Like gym shoes, toothbrushes etc...Even as an adult, I thought that was pretty cool.

He did a lot of good. He was the first person to bring issues like kids with disabilities and single parents to a TV audience of children. He even came out of retirement to talk to kids about 9/11 to try and help them understand that war wasnt their fault. Maybe a bit different but for his show to be the longest running show in PBS history he had to have something to offer. He will be missed.:(

and I never gave it much thought until now.... yes, he did do alot of good for alot of people!
