There's no way my boyfriend would allow me to dive without full independence and self-reliance skills. I am positive that his help will guide me in the right path.

Right Muddyfox? :snorkel:

The plan for the boyfriend being present is simply so that I can observe Bee. I'm no instructor and don't pretend to be. But I do want to know what kind of dive buddy I'm going to be getting once she gets cert'd. Once she's cert'd, the instructor may or may not dive with her again. However that doesn't mean she won't need additional practice, which is where I come in. I figure after her class I'll put her on the NOAA new diver schedule, the first 10-15 dives only going to 30 feet. Then the next step is 60.

The bottom line is Bee has to be self reliant and independent. There will be times where I won't be diving with her, especially if she's going to dive back in the states. She needs to establish her own equipment configuration preferences, diving comfort levels, and diving goals. Most importantly she needs to be prepared for and capable of self rescue and buddy assistance.

After all, what fun is it to dive with someone you're worried about all the time?
