I switched to sidemount for more than one reason. I love dropping down with newer divers and get plenty of satisfaction getting my friends into the sport. But, when I need that me time, I often do solo dives. With sidemount I get the redundancy, which gives me the added security for failures in my system. When I’m diving solo I’d love some music to support the dive. Are there any MP3 headphones out there that can support depth without the fear of implosion on my ears and temples. The risk always exist, but shallow dives -80 ft. Does anyone have any suggestions. It’s always spiritual for me. I’m looking to bring that feeling home with a bit of music. Let me know if you have some experience with it and what you’re using if you do. I’d pay an arm and a leg for that experience. Already know I’m going to get hit with negative feedback. This is for solo dives. Backup computers, redundancy. All the stuff. I just want some tunes to support the beauty of it when I’m in my happy place.

You didn't say what your other reasons were for switching to sidemount, but the one you did mention is redundancy. I'd like to propose that manifolded (backmount) doubles give better redundancy than sidemount. With manifolded doubles, if one regulator fails, you can easily and safely access all of the gas from both tanks using the remaining (working) regulator, without resorting to inconveniences like feathering valves.

Deepest headphones I have seen are bone conduction headphones rated at 12 feet

Surface speaker attached to a surface float like a drift dive?
I've been on dive charters that have underwater speakers pumping music out during shallow dives. I'm not sure how deep that would be practical

paradigm shift: maybe the OP wanted to discuss the psychological factors relating to their desire for music... loneliness, or whatever.....

regardless, either way that points to one of my biggest gripes with scubaboard..... way way way too many sub categories. When I want to post a thread, it takes far too long to figure out where to put it.
and since I'm in the camp of folks that ONLY looks at "new posts since my last visit", the sub-forums are completely and totally meaningless and useless.

You tech divers might be able to help out with this one, but wasn’t there a thread about listening to music/watching movies at deco stops? I think that these stops were still more shallow than OP is talking about, but can’t remember for sure.

As for speakers, I, for one, am not wanting to hear someone else’s musical choices while I’m relaxing on my solo dives. One of the main reasons I stay away from popular beaches.

I'm with you! When I suggested that I was thinking diving solo...i mean really solo... like the only one in the area!
