Hello, I am Patrick from Euless Texas. I am new to this forum and to diving. I have just completed my open water certification and will take my first salt water dives in Cozumel the first week of August. I am interested in learning from you experienced divers about diving and your experiences with dive masters in various ports. I will post my questions in other threads that are more appropriate.

Thanks

Hey Patrick. Welcome aboard. Two tips to being a better dire... It is not a race, so take your time and dive; dive a lot.

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

Thank y'all for the welcome and advice. I am retired and have time so I do plan to dive a lot. I cruise about 10 times a year and will dive in ports but am also looking at trips dedicated solely to diving....especially liveaboard trips.

Sitting here this morning, I would highly recommend Cobalt Cove Dive resort on Grand Cayman.

I'm very jealous you're off to Cozumel. You will love it. Do post and tell us how it went. I'd like to hear how the weather/temp is in August (we were there in December). I always think summer in Mexico would be too much, but could be wrong. Off course you're a warm-blooded Texan, and being from BC we would definitely have different tolerances for the heat.
As a new diver myself I have few recommendations for DMs, but I've been told (since joining ScubaBoard) that Bonaire is an amazing spot for unlimited shore diving, particularly for new divers.
However, if you ever do the Vancouver-Alaska cruise, I may have dive recommendations for you then.
On my wishlist is a liveaboard with Nautilus Swell, once I have my AOW and deep water certifications. Nautilus Explorer Luxury Scuba Diving Safari Liveaboard Socorro Giant Mantas and Guadalupe Great White Sharks
Welcome to SB.
