I just had a number of tanks hydro tested and notice that the hydro facility has a unique stamp between the month and year. Does anyone know where I can find out who did the actual hydro from this unique stamp? I was wondering if this is a DOT identifier and if so, is there a web site that will list the facilities and associated stamps?

The id is unqiue to each facility and is registrered with DOT. I am not sure if the ids are on line but I would search the DOT website.

Rjack321 Thanks for the link! By process of elimination, I found that if I do read the numbers left top, right top, left lower, right lower, it matches with a facility near me. All the other combinations are out of state or not on file.

I'm home now and had a chance to check my PSI notebook. The numbers are supposed to be made in a clockwise direction starting in the upper left. (not like I originally thought)

Here's the CFR describing the marks.
http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/....gpo.gov/cfr_2006/octqtr/pdf/49cfr180.213.pdf

"(d) Requalification markings. Each cylinder that has successfully
passed requalification must be marked with the RIN set in a square
pattern, between the month and year of the requalification date. The
first character of the RIN must appear in the upper left corner of the
square pattern; the second in the upper right; the third in the lower
right, and the fourth in the lower left."

I wouldn't be too surprised if they were marking tanks some other way.
