Need Help !

I have an FDX10/DELTA 4/ALPHA 8 setup with an Oceanic quick disconnect hose for my Pro2 computer. Today I found a small indentation area on the HP computer hose that looks like something pressed on it and made a .5 inch long "dent" diagonally about halfway down the hose. I can see a faint outline of the mesh below the rubber but not the mesh itself. How are the HP hoses made ? I'm I okay to just leave it alone since the mesh is not exposed or damaged ?

If I read your post right, you are concerned about the integrity of the hose been compromised by the dent?

Hoses are pretty tough items and because they are fairly flexable, a small "blunt" (no cuts or abrasions) dent will seldom be an issue.

Naturally theres no way of inspecting the hose via internet, but I would say if you have fully pressured the hose and its not visibly leaking, theres no bubble under the rubber vulcanising and the hose is not visibly cut or abraded, its unlikely to be an issue.
Of course, if it makes you more comfortable, I guess theres no harm in getting a spare and tossing it in your spares pack, but, I personally would just keep an eye on it over the next few dives and if it shows no signs of deteriorating or leaking it should be fine.

I've tightly wrapped all my ProPlus2 hoses in Blue Trident spiral hose wrap to help protect them against cuts/abrasion as they're kinda spendy to replace. Also, if you do have a HP leak, those are pretty small and it wouldn't be anywhere near as serious as a major leak in a LP hose, which can drain a full tank in 1 or 2 min if the LP hose 'blows'.

Thanks for the input and advice on the Trident rap for future protection. I have fully pressurized the hose and there are no blisters, tears etc.... I think I will keep an eye on it, these hoses are kinda "spendy" as scubafanatic mentioned.

Before you dive it pressurize the reg and stick the HP hose underwater. If you see a line of small bubbles emanating from the hose lengthwise, the hose is getting ready to go bad and needs to be replaced. No bubbles, no problem, consistant with what Widget said about abrading, bulging, etc.

Did aliens hover over it. Where did it come from. Take it back or something. Get another one and use the dent as an emergency one. Carry cable ties to fold hoses in half when they burst.

I was always curious about them when I have seem them on people's hoses. Do you take it off often to check the hoses are ok? Does it take long to put on and take off? Not planning on getting some as I haven't had any abrasions or cuts since I've been diving on my hoses, but just curious.

Thick nylon type plastic stuff. A couple of minutes to spiral them on. Different colour for octo was the fashion. They leave a permanent dual spiral indentation the length of the hose and collect gunk. Probably good for working at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron or any other sharp bits place. A bit like tank boots and hose protectors I don't see people taking them off for cleaning, but then I don't watch people cleaning. They stiffen the hose. Plenty of backbeach and graveyards, minimal abrasion and no cuts with standard hoses all configurations. Is the Canberra sharp, the others were?

Thanks for that.

I have done only four dives on the Canberra but haven't found it sharp. When there is surge though you get thrown around into the walls quite violently though. Whilst it is swiss cheese it's not a dive for people inexperienced with surge.
