sydney is temprate so the temps go down in winter but the blue water flushes thru and the viz is much clearer! currently the water is about 21C or 70F.

we dive a 5mm semi dry all year round (though i am nagging for a drysuit in my older years).

so yes, i would say sydney diving is good all year round - but im spoilt by the tropics 3hrs away so where im a bit ho-hum about my diving here, visitors are wow'd by it

cheers

Almighty is spoiled indeed!

I have lived in Sydney for the last 18 months and am still wowed by the local dives. Plus you can drive a few hours North or South for even more great diving. I doubt there are many major cities that can match the opportunities in Sydney.

Perth and surrounds have some excellent diving including Rottnest Island. A bit further south at Dunsborough is the Swan wreck and the Busselton Jetty. Albany has a wreck, the Perth, but it's a long ways south.
