A big Texas howdy to everyone! I don't have my OW cert yet, but am anxiously waiting to take my class in the next few weeks. I have been dating ScubaBoard member Jay_SMART_Diver  for the past year, and have listened to him obsess about scuba for the past year. While scuba hasn't been an interest of mine in the past, his non-stop talk of gear, tropical locales, colorful reefs and some great dive pictures he's taken have caught my interest. And you know what they say, if you can't get them to shut up about it....join them! And I look forward to it! There are a lot of great places to dive around here, and I can't wait to start. Jason's already started to buy me some gear, a pair of hard soled boots. Now I just need everything else. Shopping spree! :jump013: If any of you have recomendations for women's gear for a newbie, let me know! Look forward to hearing from you!

I am sure that you too will have a wonder time diving!! It is quite peacful and relaxing! Always a bonus when shared with someone you love. Best of luck to you and your diving adventures to come.

Dive Happy & Safe,
Lisa

Hi soon2bdivin,

I think it would be best for you to do the OW course before buying your own gear.

Your instructors can then guide you about what you require. I wish I had purchased my fins after I'd done the course - I would have got completely different ones!

Welcome to the board, I am sure Jay has given you the grand tour around but just in case he hasn't be sure to visit the Texas Swamp Divers forum lots of fun people there too.

Ladies gear? I guess you would be better to ask that question in under the womens forum. I don't use a womens BC don't like the way they fit, but I am sure you will find just the right gear for you. If you have a chance try out several brands and see what suits you.

well, i bought my stuff before my class, and love it so far. the only advice i have is if the wetsuit takes all the skin off your knuckles, go up a few sizes! i'm still healing!
