Any recommendations on how wide of a lens I should bring to the Galapagos (for UW)? I currently have a 24mm (full frame equivalent) lens, but I'm wondering if I should get a wider lens - it's a bit of an expense since I'd also need a dome housing.

Otherwise, I could bring my lens and also bring a GoPro for wide angle shots and video - I'm guessing that the GoPro photo's won't be too great, but if going wider than 24mm isn't terribly critical, then that would be fine...

Thanks in advance!

Joe I'm leaving in 2 weeks, and I'm taking an 8mm fish-eye, & a 9-18 zoom, for my Oly em5. My go pro is mounted on top of my camera housing, with flip filters in place. The 8mm gives really great, and dramatic shots if your close enough. but the 9-18zoom has a little more reach, and with the warm water temps things may be a little deeper. I would contact Backscatter, Bluewater photo, or Reef Photo, for lens recommendations. I would think your 24 would be fine. Don't forget filters for your go pro they make all the difference.

Mike

PS when are you leaving?

Heya Mike,

I ended up getting the Oly 7-14 2.8 setup - in for a penny, in for a pound, I guess.

I'm not sure about the GoPro now, since I think my lens should be wide enough to cover the bases, and I'm hoping to be able to mooch video from other divers (and I suppose I could try taking video with the M10) :)

I'll be on the Aggressor in a few weeks :)
