Ok, I have a slight issue. I have recently moved to Puerto Rico and have decided that I would be remiss not to take up diving while I am here (at least a year). Anyhow, my spanish is not bad, but I'm not fluent either. Although my comprehension is pretty good, I thought it would be better to take the class in english (I'm taking it through a LDS using PADI). Anyhow, both my buddy and I are the only ones who are taking the english version in an all spanish class (our books and materials are in english, and if we come early, we can watch the videos in english, but the rest of the class is in spanish). Anyway, to the point: our kit did not come with RDP instruction manuals, and the RDP is in spanish, which is not a big deal, but how do I use it? I talked with the LDS people, and they don't have a manual in english, they'd have to send for one (which may take weeks. It has taken 2 weeks to get the tests delivered in english). I want to go ahead and get done with the class (already did open dives 1 and 2 this last weekend, and they were awesome.) can someone briefly explain how to use this thing? I Can't seem to dig up any manuals online, which I find odd. Thanks for your help in advance!

Does your instructor speak english? Can't he or she explain it to you? If not I would strongly suggest finding an instructor with whom you can communicate with.

first of all, you have to covert to English minutes from Spanish minutes which are a bit longer.......

Just kidding, couldnt resist.

Thanks MINCHO, that was exactly what I was looking for. Cornfed, I haven't talked to my instructor about it yet. He said to read the RDP manual before class on tuesday last thursday, and I thought to myself "hey I don't have one of those I don't think." But I figured I'd check at home before I said anything. Well I checked and didn't have one, so I figured I'd mention it when I picked up my two tanks for the first two open water dives (this last weekend) and that is when they told me they don't have any. Class is Tommorrow night, he hasn't even gone over the table yet (will do tommorrow), but I improve my spanish comprehension if I figure everything out first and then listen to him talk about it. Spanish is different in Puerto Rico than it is in most of central america in that there are several provice specific words and also they don't pronounce the nletter 's', and the letter 'r' is sometimes pronounced like the letter 'l'. So the word despues becomes depue, etc. It's more or less for my own benefit. So no biggie, espciailly since the website that Mincho gave me was excellent. Thanks guys! That was blazin' fast.

If you want to run some practice questions, I wrote a chunk of software that does 82 billion dive table questions, in metric or imperial, with 8 different table formats, Navy, Padi, SSI, Naui, Nitrox, etc..

Shareware download from our site, here's the link:

Computerized Table Tutor

There you can see what one of the screens would look like, and download it. It's shareware, and you're supposed to send me $14.95 for an unlock code... but it is full functioning for a bit, until the shareware locks you out... but don't worry about it, just go back to the same link:

Computerized Table Tutor

put in your shareware number and add it to your cart. If you're not getting anything else, just choose Check instead of credit card on the check out screen, and in the notes section, say you are on the ScubaBoard, and I'll give you your unlock code for free.

And this is an offer for anyone who wants it out there... I spent months writing the darn thing, mainly to teach my self programming, and I don't mind sharing it with people who need to practice tables.

Check it out... Hope it helps!
