How to shoot a pmb?

I am sure that this has been posted before, but what is the best way to send a a personal marker bouy? Mine has a lot of lift. I know that it could drag me to the surface if I did it wrong. It would be hark to let go of a couple hundred dollars worth of reel and pmb, so I would rather do it correctly.
