Hi,
I have a small pneumatic gun and because I dont want to bring it on board (or jump in) loaded i have to have some way of securing the shaft to the gun while in transit. Right now I use two bungie loops around the barrel of the gun but that does not work very well. The shaft keeps on sliding around and poping out. I tried using innertoob loops. They work pretty well to hold the shaft, but ones its out, its imposible to put it back in with thick gloves. Does anybody have any tips on how to do this?

Soooo... I've been strugging with the same problem. Here's what I've got so far:

A piece of plastic pipe with a slit down the side will pop over the barrel of the gun and stay there securely.

Plastic tool holder clips such as McMaster-Carr p/n 1171A68 will hold a shaft reasonably securely (solving the "sliding around" problem)

If I can figure out how to attach the plastic clips to the plastic pipe, I'll have a solution - clip the shaft in place and secure with a velcro strap or some such. My experiments with plastic welding have thus far met with catastrophic failure. No glue I've discovered will work. If you manage to solve this one, I'd _love_ to know what you come up with.

Hi,
for the plastic pipe, did you cut a slice out of a pvc pipe or did you use something else?

I got a piece of black drain repair pipe. I believe it's thin-walled thermoplastic. It's definitely not PVC. Might be ABS, but it doesn't have the hollow cell matrix that heavier gauge ABS has. Bought it at a hardware store. It's screwed up though - melted it trying to weld the plastic. Might get another and try again...
