How to play 50/60 fps video on the internet???

I have an appletv at home and with that setup I can stream and watch my underwater videos in double frame rate at 50 fps

As far as I can see both youtube and vimeo only support 25/30 fps, I wonder how other people deal with this and if there is anyway to stream the full video on the net?

I just checked, and as far as I can tell, I've uploaded 60 (ok 59.xx) fps content from my GoPro to YouTube and it encodes and plays back just fine. I can't tell if YT is re-encoding it to 30fps though.

Any time you encode for "streaming" there's likely to be a trade-off to make the bitrate acceptable. I just did a quick visual comparison of a 720p60 video that I had uploaded to you, and didn't really notice any difference.

Do you really notice a difference between 30fps and 60fps (or 25/50) for diving videos? My limited experience is that for "slow" stuff it doesn't make much difference. Action/movement is where higher fps pay off, or when you want to do special effects like slow motion.

They are usually reencoded as Travis said.

The 60 fps divers take every other frame to make it seem smoother IIRC.

Ok I produce two versions of the same video a 25 fps and a 50 fps. The higher frame rate version looks generally better to be honest not amazingly better but somewhat better. Nothing to do with fluid movement more a case that with more frames there are less artefacts in the conversion. The bubble exhale looks better lol
