OK, I know I saw a link on a past thread and now I can't locate it. I'm looking for a PCP w/ diving knowledge/experience in my area.

Background is I've had this headache on/off for about a week. Kind of like a hangover headache (at the back of my head/neck). I went to my PCP who said looks like baro trauma and I should be good to dive this w/end. He also finished by saying he doesn't know a lot about diving medicine.... So I've been on a steady diet of advil and every time I think I've got the headache beat it comes back within 12hrs....leading to more advil. The ears seem to be getting much better.

On one of my dives last week I had a rapid ascent from 51' out of pure anxiety (yes, I will learn from this), and I know my breathing was way off....which helped add to the anxiety. I was able to go back and finish the dive (@25-30'). Upon finishing I did have blood in my mask, which I was told was normal for beginning divers.... The headache didn't really begin until the next day.

Thanks,
John

I contacted DAN awhile ago and there are *sort of* two diving docs in our area. You can get on thier website and request the info and they'll get it to you w/in 24hrs. I'd give it to you myself but I tossed the piece of paper a week ago since neither had time to see me for a routine exam. One doc is a true diving doc while the other is the new guy at the local hyperbaric unit. Your best bet it to try guy number two since guy number one wouldn't give me a normal appointment until November. I hope you feel better.

Oh one more edit: did you know that OSS does fun dives every Sat. at 10am at Ft. Wetherill? I am told they are nice easy dives for nervous people like me so maybe you could work on your anxiety issues there?

NO WAIT! I found it: Dr. Michael Rosenberg Providence 401-272-1832, Dr. Stephen Cummings Warwick 401-736-4646

Thanks Gidds,

Funny you mentioned OSS. It was on their "fun" dive....LOL. Should have been an awesome dive, I just screwed up. We dove Bull Point, past Wetherill all the way to the end of that road. For the rest of the day I tried to figure out why I did what I did....I had no idea we were that deep until I was on the surface....totally my fault. Lesson learned. Thanks for the info....I'll call the doc in the morning. I just want a second opinion. My PCP is a little too laid back for me....I wasn't aware baro trauma could cause headaches as well....I just want to be sure.

DAN has now been added to my favorites and I will be looking into the insurance.

Thanks guys,
John
