I have just switched over to the HC7 with an Ike housing and I am having trouble with controls. Is there a way to use the controls when the screen is reversed or am I going to have to learn to use it with the screen normal and my viewing reversed? Thanks for any help or opinions.

There should be a "reverse-circuitry" system in your housing. Do you have the plug in the LANC of your camcorder? That controls reversing the image in the mirror. Are you turning it on and off with the little red switch (by way of one of the knobs on top of the housing)?

Yes I am and when it is reversed the controls for the camera do not work. Will they worked reversed?

Thanks for responding-

You CANNOT take still shots while the reverse circuitry is engaged. Is that what you are asking? All your other controls should work the same regardless.

I was not trying to take still shots. When ever the camera is in the housing and you want to see the picture for what it really is in the mirrow then it is reversed on the camera screen so it is reflected correctly in the mirrow. So when the screen is reversed the touch controls are reflected differently and therefore I have found them not to work. I am asking can you somehow make the touch controls work on the screen when it is reversed? Does that mkae sense?
Thank You-

okay, now I know what you are asking....... but I have no idea. I have an older camcorder without touch-screen features. You should probably contact Ikelite to ask them about it. I haven't heard anyone else complain about it so I don't know who else might know the answer. sorry!

Thank you for trying, but I think we figured it out. You can not control the touch screen when it is reversed. The Ikelite book/pamplet that came with the housing stated some of the controls would not work basically saying the touch screen does not work.
Thanks again!

wow, that's a real shame... so can you switch off the IRC (image reversing circuitry)? then use the touch screen controls (say to chance WB), and then switch the IRC back on? Sorry, I'm not that familiar with Ike housings.

You can shut off the reverse circuitry and use them.

Yes, that is correct. You have to switch off the IRC then you can use all of the controls on the touch screen. Everything else will work with the IRC on as far as taking pictures, zoom, manual focus, on/off and record. The only other thing is to learn how to use the touch screen when viewed reversed, but that is a little difficult to keep your subject centered sometimes.
