Is there a way to clear the memory in a Nitek Duo computer ? I have had the computer for about a year and a half with about 80+ dives on it. The log number has maxed out at number 38 which seems consistent with the memory capabilites as detailed in the manual. Every new dive now gets logged as dive 38, and it dumps the oldest dive log (ie. number 1) to make room. The next new dive is 38 and it renumbers the previous dive as 37. But I'd like to clear the log memory so that it will start at 1 again whenever I start a new day or new trip or new year or whatever. The reset button doesn't do this, and pulling the battery isn't a solution either. So is there a way to clear the memory or will each new dive from now on be logged as dive 38 ??

thanks,

rich

Hi Rmoccia,

Thanks for posting. When trying to clear the log is their desat time on the computer? It won't work if until the desat time is zero. Alternatively, reset or pulling the battery until the screen blanks should reset the computer to factory specs and clear your log.

Let me know if these don't work.

Yes, I did wait until there was NO desat time. Pressing the reset button on the back of the computer simply resets the unit to factory defaults for metric and noon on the clock etc., etc.. I did pull the battery and left it out for several minutes. There was no effect on the memory log, which seems stored as hard memory (ie. doesn't need power from the battery to maintain data). So at this point, there seems to be no way to actually clear the log ?? So each new dive just keeps coming up as log # 38. Any ideas ?

Thanks Kathleen.

Hi Rich,

Sorry for the delay; we've had conflicting opinions on how to help you and I wanted to make sure I got a solid answer. Unfortunately, its not the answer you are looking for, but the fact is that you cannot clear the dives out of the DUO except by doing more dives. The only thing you can do is re-name the dives after you upload them into NiTek Logic.

Wish I could be more helpful,
Kathleen

Thanks Kathleen. You've helped me because I can now stop chasing my tail !

Maybe there will be a solution in the NEW software you just released (Nitek Dive Log) ? Thanks for your reply.
