When I sign up for a PADI online course, all the reports of my progress and completion in the course go to the Dive Shop that was originally associated with my PADI registration.

But except for the Open Water course, all my other courses will be associated with other dive ops. When I call the dive op where I'll be doing the course and say that I'm taking an e-learner class through PADI, they ask whether I associated my class with their dive op. That way they'll get the reports of my progress, to prove that I completed the e-learner portion before I arrive for the in-the-water portion of the course.

Is there a way to change the dive op associated with my PADI registration?

Of course, I know that I can simply print out the proof of completion of the course, that's what I've been doing up 'til now.

Thanks.
Matt

The Dive OP gets a percentage of the online fee, that's more likely the reason they want you to make sure they have you registered with them.

You'll most likely have to e-mail PADI about it.

From what I have experienced over the past three years, the only way I have been able to change my "Affiliated Training Center" is when I sign up for a new course. Each time you register for a course, it will ask you to select your affiliated training center. Also that training center is there to assist you while you are taking the course. So it is important to know WHO you plan on taking the training with prior to registering for the on-line course.

When I did ny OW I used Underwater Phanases in Lakewood, Colorado.
When I did my AOW I used Scuba Doggs in San Puerto Rico.
When I did my Rescue Diver I use the Atlantis on the Palms in Dubai, UAE.
Now I have just registered for the DM and it is with Utila Dive Centre in Honduras.

After I knew that I wanted to progress onto the Dive Master level, I asked PADI if I could take the DM On-line Course with not yet knowing which Training Center I would utilized and they said no...I had to have an affiliated training center. I think it was so I would have a Point of Contact if needed for information and training explanations and like "The Wart" mentioned it has to do with the fee structure.

Happy Diving and enjoy the courses.

They must have changed it, because I have taken 2 courses beyond the first, and have not been asked this question.

No, it's there.

Is this the screen for initially choosing the dive shop? I've never been offered to change it when signing up for subsequent courses (AOW and Rescue Diver). Perhaps this screen doesn't show up if you've already chosen a dive shop. Also, I notice something about a mobile app on the screen, I do my PADI stuff on my PC.

No, I've done my OW and AOW with two different shops...this is the screen that comes up every time. This screen capture is from me signing up to EAN and logging in with my previous user name and pwd.

This was on a PC. That mobile app you see is a link to download their mobile app.

Hm. Maybe there's more than one way to sign up for a course, because I never got that screen. Oh well. Next course I sign up for maybe it'll show up.

Matt,

I would give the folks at PADI a call; let them walk you thru the process. You have every right to choose whom you want to do your training with.

To me, I like going to different training centers as I progress. This lets me meet new people and experience exciting and different locations...part of life's journey. :sharkattack:

Good luck in your future endevors...

Good idea. I sent them an email and got no reply, but a phone call is easy. I'll do that. Thanks!

Yes, it's really cool that I'm now a member of this world-wide diving community. I call a destination I'm considering diving, and the person who answers the phone at the dive op (wherever it is) is always nice and willing to help. And the way I discovered Sunset House in Cayman is from a call to PADI.
