How Much Money

Hello everyone...I'm getting ready to spend alot of money on my addiction, all secondary to training costs and fees...3 regulators, a new computer, deco class, charter fees. This is all in the next few weeks. In January...IDC fees and instructors book and, assuming the IDC goes well, IE fees next Spring...For all of you who have asked about becoming a DM. Yes...There are possible perks...I'm getting an Apeks ATX 200, 100 and 50 for close to cost, so that's a perk aye...Saving a $)(!^ load there. So thinking about all of this, I was wondering what some of you have spent this year or are getting ready to spend. For me, the SCUBA gods keep asking...So, What's in your wallet....

It isn't clear what you're asking. If you mean all board members, there will be quite a wide spread - there are over 65,000 members on this board - and it won't really mean anything. For example, one friend of mine spent over $30K this year on computer video editing software and hardware, and this was starter stuff to begin producing his own videos. Another acquaintance I dive with bought a new commercial dive boat. I didn't ask, but I'll bet it set him back quite a few hundred thousand. One guy in our group set up quite the fill station...being anal, he likely dumped some $14-15K into it, and thats a rough estimate.

But none of those purchases would apply in general to most divers on the board.

Dang Doc, I am definitely diving with the wrong group.

I have friends that have spent thousands of dollars in a year. Then you can go years without spending much except for maintenance.

The past few month has been some real crazy ones for me. Lots of damage done to my credit card:

1) IDC fee
2) IE Fee
3) PADI membership fee (DM+Instructor)
4) DIR-F
5) Doubles tanks with regulators
6) Canister light+back up lights
7) Single tank wing

I am broke.

We have 25K in dive gear sitting in our Scuba Locker. The sad part is we are not done yet

That's what I've bought and paide for since the start of 2006. It's in the neighborhood $4 - 5,000. I don't like keeping track of it because I'm pretty sure I would pee in my pants if I did. That also doesn't keep track of all the money that I've spent of gas fills, gas, hotel, and food while making local trips. The worse part is I'm not finished yet.

To come this year possibly:

DIR-F class
Can light
2 x scout lights
and maybe another salvo first stage.
