How much do you pay for parts and labor on your annual regulator overhaul? I'm just curious as to what's normal.

4 year old gear: 1st Stage, 2nd Stage, Ocoto 2nd Stage, SUUNTO Computer, and BC including parts (and they replaced a bunch of O rings, springs, and screens including then of the hose on the BC with all the buttons and such) parts and labor came to $77.00 US.

I tend to take my regs in every 2 years. Costs roughly $80 a time for those but i do live in "rip-off britain".

Its the only bit of my kit i dont service or maintain myself (mainly as you cant get the parts).

I just emailed my LDS and they said $110cdn for labour and $80 for parts. My scubapro reg was bought in Asia so it doesn't qualify for the free parts deal. This seems extreme to me. I was expecting a cost of about $50. It looks like I'll be getting getting it done here before I head back home or I'll have to put a serious effort into finding another scubapro technician.

Anyone else getting hit this hard?

US Divers Conshelf SE3 purchased in 1995: $99.00 including parts and labor for first stage, 2 second stages, and 3 gage console.

Cheap insurance, although my instructor is teaching me how to overhaul them myself.

Nada. I bought through my LDS.

So it looks like I'm being punished for living and working and buying my gear in another city/country. Wow! That's a great way to welcome a new diver to town. I think it'll be cheaper for me to courier my reg back to korea once a year.

Yeah... The Dive Industry apparantly won't give you warranty unless you do your warranty/service work in the country it was bought in. Not really fair to the consummer, especially if it was bought from an "authorized dealer".

BTW... I think my LDS charges $60 bucks labor and my regulator has a "free parts" progrm if serviced annually. I've seen other shops charge as little as $40 (+/-) and as much as $75 for labor.

SP parts kits run about $5.00-$6.00 US for the second stage and about $10.00 US for the first stage. So figure $20.00 US for parts for first/second/octo. Labor costs should not be more than $25.00 US per stage and in locations away from salt water run $10.00 to $15.00 per stage.

Consequently a non-warranty covered parts annual service on an SP reg should run between $50.00 and $95.00 US. $190 CDN ($152 US) is a pretty outrageous.
