I've heard advertised in the past, depending on the actual type of 6 ft. SMB (smaller vs. larger diameter), approx. 16-18 lbs. of lift. This is for a standard 6 ft. SMB; not a lift bag. That's a good bit of backup in my opinion, especially when I have dived with wings that only had 18 lbs. of lift.

My SMB goes with me on every dive. It is yellow on one side for lower light conditions, and orange on the other side for bright light and whitecap conditions. I have even used mine in training to demonstrate how to use it as a reaching tool to pull someone through, or out of the water on the surface, which is just one more use I've found for it to add to the more obvious uses.
