I never get it but decided to get it this time because it is February in the northeast and I could get snowed in. I also feel maybe my luck has run out and I'll get an ear or sinus infection. Who knows? Anyway, do all of you guys get trip insurance: all the time, never, sometimes?

I'm not sure if trip insurance would cover sinus problems or an ear infection. I suspect not but I do get it in case I end up in hospital. It can save you a lot of money.

I've got annual coverage and keep it maintained year on year.... covers health, gear etc.

Are you referring to DAN or PADI ins? That's different. This is if you can't make your trip due to medical reasons or if the plane is cancelled.

Yes, if a doctor says you cannot dive due to ANY medical reason, you get full refund. If they cancel your flight, or it's delayed for several days, etc, you will get a refund.

I have DAN insurance that gives a lot of coverage but it will not cover some trip interruption problems etc. I bought the DAN trip insurance for my trip to Australia as it was a pretty costy trip and I figured better to loose the cost of the addded trip insurance than the cost of the entire trip. And, wouldn't you know I acutally needed it! So it was a good investment, at least this time.

Wow, was that a stroke of luck. Was it difficult to get a full refund?

All the time for the following reasons:

-I usually buy nonrefundable tickets because they are cheaper
-anything can happen to make you sick
-the locations we go to are remote and the airlines that service them can be flaky

$120 to save 4000 makes sense

Hopefully it is always wasted money

I am this year because I have a liveaboard planned for the Caribbean during August. Dive Assure covers all trips and my aging mother who does not reside with me.

Nope. An annual travel insurance policy - it works out marginally more expensive to pay an annual premium than it does to pay for a two week trip. Seeing as I do a lot more travelling than that, I save an arm and a leg.
