Simple, it depends on the tank(s) size, fill amount, depth, temperature, current, physical exertion (scooter or not) and of course – depth. I’ve had very short 20min dives and nice, warm and shallow dives over an hour all on a single tank.

I would say my average SoCal dive with a single HP100 (normally short filled to 3100), 60’ – 80’ runs in the 35-45 minute range.

I dive warm water and usually am down 45 minutes. Doesn't matter if I'm drift diving or just a regular dive... seems like everyone is up at around 45 minutes. Now if it's a wreck dive where we do down quite a bit, it's more like 30-35 minutes.

I'm still quite new at diving so I'm not sure that helps you.

Ok let me just add an extra parameter.single tank size = 72-80cft/10-11Liters
Fill pressure = 210bar/3087psi standard fill over here.:D

Depends on the water temperature and exposure protection. I think my overall average is roughly 30 minutes. I generally get cold before I have an air issue even in warm water. I did a 60 minute dive in Bermuda 37 feet max depth and 83 degree water temp in a full 3mm wetsuit and was starting to chill. I was 17 minutes into the second dive when I got cold enough to instinctively reach for my drysuit inflator :dork: That dive ended up lasting about 55 minutes. I had to add a 3mm shortie for the night dive.

If I was diving warm water a lot I would probably average an hour with the right exposure protection (probably a 5mm or 7mm suit).

Last time I dove oversized beer cans (AL80's) was in Indonesia. Over 54 dives, I averaged 63 minutes per dive. On most dives the average depth for the dive was in the 40-45 foot range.

Here at home I typically dive LP95's or HP119's (same size tank, just different working pressures). On my recent Port Hardy trip I was using LP95's and averaging about 65 minutes per dive ... with a depth average in the 50-55 foot range.

Warm water (5mm full): 10 to 18m approx an hour.
Cold water (dry suit): 10 to 18m approx an 35 to 45 mins.

On my last trip to NC, over six dives my average dive time was 43 minutes, average max depth was 98'. It was warm and I was using HP100s.

I guide for a boat here. We have a 45 minute channel crossing that typically gets very windy by noon, sometimes earlier. We put nearly every one on 80's for the first dive, unless we have dove with them before and know they should be on 63, 72 or 100. Depending on the first site, we cut the dive at a set time on the guide's timer and dive to a planned depth; usually 60'-80' for 35-40 min. If you want to have the option for extended bottom time on the first dive, experienced divers are encouraged to descend earlier than the guide and poke around the base of the mooring.

Even though we do not travel very far during the course of our dives, very few of our customers actually make it to the set time on the first dive. We send divers up as their air dictates until the guide reaches the set time, when all divers ascend. This puts most of the group in similar N2 load so we can have an ~45 minute SI and do up to a 60 minute second dive with a max depth of ~60'. If you take advantage of the early descent on the first dive and spend too much time at the max depth, your computer may limit your second dive time rather than your air. If you do not have a computer we provide a Suunto Gecko for $5 or you dive tables.

On the second dive, very few divers make it to 60 minutes. This is a 12 passenger vessel where my limited experience is max 4 guests per trip make it to the end of both dives. Then we hope the channel crossing is not too rough and hope only one or two guests feed the fish :)

If we let guests dive their own profile up to 60 minutes each dive, more divers would be miserable on return and the annual boat repair costs would be significantly higher, pushing the cost of the trip up.
