My wife and I passed our PADI OW certification on Nov. 9th. We still haven't received our C Cards. The reason I'm worried is because we're going on another trip starting February 1st. For this trip our dives should be booked in the next few weeks... anyways, what's the typical wait time to get your PADI C Card?

I've always been impressed with how efficient PADI is about processing certification cards. Oftentimes we would process the PIC on a Tuesday and receive the cards on Saturday. If you haven't received your card, check with the shop that trained you. The card shipment defaults to the shop. Also check if they actually processed the PIC. The shop has one week to process the PICs.

If you did not get a temporary digital card on your email yet the LDS most likely has not processed it

My wife had hers in a week. I would guess that it would depend if the instructor sent it in, and if he did did he mail it or do it on the computer for instandt application.

Hope you have completion in your log book and you have your temp paper card they should have given you.

Check with your dive shop/instructor immediately. You should have both a temporary card and the permanent card by now. If not, the card is either sitting at the dive shop or has not been processed. If you get any BS from the dive shop or the instructor, call PADI (1-800-729-7234) immediately, and they will solve your problem quickly. They have no patience with shops/instructors that are inept in processing certs, and (as you can tell) neither do I.

If you want, PM me your full name and birthdate, and I'll check online with the PADI Pro site and let you know if you exist in their system. It only takes a minute.

Oh wow... pretty annoyed right now. I was never given a temp (paper card) when I passed my OW. Because of not having a card the resort dive operation would not let me dive (I think they have to let resort guests dive for free, even though they have their own, independent business, so I don't think they were too eager to take 'non paying people' out).

So I didn't get a paper card, and now it looks like they're dropping the ball on getting me my real card. That being said, I did e-mail them yesterday morning and I still haven't heard back from them.

I'll be calling PADI tomorrow.

PADI will want to see your signed log pages showing you did the four dives.

We do have our log books, the dive operator stamped them with their shop stamp. We even have a few pictures with our instructor, he's filling out our log books in one of them.

If you did the dives at a resort area and it was outside the USA and you used a paper system and they mailed it in....

I did both my OW and my AOW in different places in Mexico long before they had online services. In both cases, they handed me the paperwork and told me to mail it in after I got back in the USA. They said there was no telling when I would get my card if they sent it in.

Some years ago i was in Belize with some friends, and the wife decided to send some post cards. I warned her, but she did it anyway. They arrived about 3 months later.

I would have thought they would have used some type of electronic program to submit my paperwork. I did PADI e-learning, and used did my contained and OW with the dive operator. Maybe I'll give them another day or two to get back to me before I reach out to PADI. With the exception of this issue I was pretty happy with their communication and service.
