Looking at getting a Sherwood Tortuga. What's the word?

I just recently purchased the Sherwood Tortuga and dove the Yukon and Ruby E wrecks last month in San Diego. The BC performed very well and is comfortable. No problems at all. I swapped out the tank cam strap with the stainless steel buckled cam strap from Dive Rite Express (comparable to the ScubaPro strap) and it secured things beautifully.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough dives on it to give you a comprehensive report, but I'm happy with it. Sport Chalet had it on sale for only $250 back in June.

Their search engine isn't a very good one.

One thing about Scuba Diving Magazine to factor in is that they tend not
to be as open minded on reviews as you would want. They tend to review
gear and locations that are "big advertisers" for example. Find an item
you want to buy that doesn't advertise in their magazine, chances are that
it didn't "make the cut" of things they reviewed.

Yeah, for example I just flipped thru the new issue, and one of the top 10 wreck dive sites listed is Aruba.

I know what you mean.... but...

Actually, Aruba has some great wrecks. The Antilla is a 400 + footer sunk in 55 feet of water. You can swim through the cargo holds easily. It was a great dive. The Pedernalis is another wreck that was very good. Though the wreck has collapsed, it's in shallow water and is one of the best wrecks for fish pictures I've ever been on as the fish follow you around the ship. (Becuse they've been feed by snorkle boats and they think all divers, etc are going to feed them. Regardless, it is a great photo site.

Scuba Diving magazine gets the best wreck sites from the Reader Rater program. So they actually some reader input on the "best sites" stuff. Of course they then
sell ad's to Aruba or other island dive operators and put in and beside the article they are printing on the area.


My main complaint about their "dive site" info is that they always write about the same dive locations every year. I mean they'll put Cozumel or Grand Cayman or Bonaire on the cover again and again and again, every year and write the same type "canned" article about it every year. Yeah it's nice to see it the first couple years, but it gets old pretty soon after that.

Their magazine lacks doing anything original anymore on just about everything....
