Is it diving good in Camigiun island near Mindanao?

What's kinds of stuff could be seen in these sites?

Which dive resort could be suggested in this area?

Thanks!

Stayed in Camigiun for a week, loved it!! A group of friends met my flight and hosted me at Mantagale resort in Camigiun. Besides the usual stuff you see in the philippines like lionfish and junk I saw my first Pgymy seahorse, a blue ribbon eel, lots of manderin fish (I mean a lot), a manta, turtles, and some great soft corals. I was really impressed with the vis during my trip, averaged about 80' (which is quite a bit better than their 40-60' averages). The resort is really nice and looks a lot like the pictures on their site. Dive prices were reasonable, since their was a group of us we were able to obtain some very favorable rates. I'm looking forward to going back in a few months, this is one of my favorite places in the philippines to just relax and dive. the only downside is their menu has too much fish (I'm allergic) so I got bored with the fare quickly. Service was excellent. No nightlight local to the resort like other parts of the philippines.

Check out their website at www.mantagale.com. Tell Dudong Dave sent you.

If you need info let me know and I'll be glad to help as I can, Dudong runs a good operation and is worthy of your patronage.

Because it is near Mindanao and we have to transfer in CGY, is it safe to visit?

If there are only 4 divers and above, we could enjoy the cheap package? We are only two divers....:(

I believe CGY is probably the safest place in Mindanao. However, you are in Mindanao and for that matter the philippines. The resort will make arrangements to pick you up either at the airport or superferry terminal (Make sure you have someone from the resort, do NOT take your own transpo). I felt pretty safe while I was there, and I'm a big blond american. In fact, I met some really nice people on the plane down who waited with me at the airport until the driver arrived (the plane was early). It was only 10 minutes, but it shows the kindness of the average person in Mindanao. I was really impressed with how nice the people there were.

In hte philippines, and other places, no promises of safety. You probably have a greater chance of problems in Manila than CGY (at least according to my local friends).

Send Dudong a message and ask him what he can do. Just mention that I referred you, he may make you some type of deal. Regardless, the diving/accomodations and food are just such a deal in the philippines.

Dave
