Seriously ... can you post pictures of said alleged fractures?
 
My S50 housing has such, as did the S50 housing of a friend years
ago. I think his was looking that way, even before it went in the
water the first time. Never leaked or cracked on him. Mine,
only showed similar defects years later. I'd call it "crazing" rather
than cracks. Definitely not scratched on the outside.

When I had an airplane, certain canopy covers would react with the
plexiglass windshield, causing similar crazing. It was cosmetic only
in that case (but a/c windshields don't see the sort of pressure that
a housing does at 100 feet). I have wondered whether something
such as silicone or whatever reacts with the Canon plastic.

I have tried for two days to post photos without success. (And I have had no problems in the past posting photos.) I also tried to delete my thread because I could not get the images posted again without success.
So ignore the post; sorry to have bothered you. Perhaps there is something wrong with the Browser.
