Hi peeps,

I recently got the Canon SD800 IS as a Christmas cum Birthday gift. Yes, lucky me!

I am deciding between the Ikelite U/W housing, or the canon WPDC9..
The price difference is pretty huge.. What's the difference between those 2? And also, may I ask which housing has better controls underwater?

Thanks in advance for your input!

The camera itself doesn't have many controls that need manipulating underwater, since it has no manual controls. With a camera like this, generally all you need to do underwater is turn macro on and off, flash on and off, flip between underwater and video mode, and click the shutter button. Both cases should work fine for that.

Buy the Ikelite if you plan to take the camera deeper than 120' on any regular basis, otherwise I'd save the money and buy the cheaper and smaller Canon case.

Just make sure that it gives you access to the menu where you can choose the manual white balance! This is probably one of the most important controls and if I recall the 800 does have manual white balance.

I own a Canon case for the S500 and have been perfectly happy with it. I would assume the quality would be the same for your camera. Have fun!
