I borrowed my buddy's Hotsuit catalytic heater a couple of weeks ago to see what difference it might make on a dive in 57 F water. I generally dive dry in water less than 60 F or so and this Hotsuit belt made a noticeable difference for me on that dive and several that followed. It lasts for about 45 to 50 minutes and I found that I did not notice the cold water until the catalytic action ceased. By that time in the dive, we're often above the thermocline and in warmer water. I really dislike being even chilled on dives which is why I went to a drysuit, but sometimes, it's just less of a hassle to dive wet. Based on my experiences with this heater, I bought the belt and three inserts on a blowout at Scuba.com. YMMV.
