Your not leaving for a month things get back to normal pretty quick around Coz. Send them an email http://www.cozumel-hotels.net/la-reina/ I bet you will not have any problems boarding the dive boat. Have fun.

Actually, I suspect that you have reservations with the "Caribe Blu" (formerly Hotel Lorena).

In any event, my guess is that their dock will be fixed by the time of your trip. If not, pick ups could probably be arranged at Papa Hog's or Dive Paradise just to the south.

If you want another recommendation, this would be faciliated by knowing:

1. Do you want an all-inclusive or ala carte resort?
2. Must dive op be onsite?
3. Any budgetary considerations?
4. Close to town or well outside?
5. Large or small?

Best regards.

2. Must dive op be onsite? A: just a convenience
3. Any budgetary considerations?A:reasonable; we like el presidente but why spend all that money when we are there 2 dive?
4. Close to town or well outside? A:I like quiet
5. Large or small? Z: Either

Do you have an opinion about caribe? we were leaning toward the reef club but it was sold out on the 18th

IMO the Caribe is a very nice small divers hotel nothing fancy but like you said you are there to dive. It's perfect for divers and it is quiet.

If you want an AI the Hotel Cozumel is just right up the road (closer to town) than the Caribe Blue. http://www.hotelcozumel.com.mx/ It has a very nice pool largest on the island and a large hot tub feels good after a night dive. Any dive op can pick you up at the dock.

They have entertainment so it is not always quiet.

I have never been to the Reef Club but recently I have heard not so good reports about the hotel. Plus it's a long way from town.

The Reef Club has a very nice beach & it is a large property. The pool is large & there are lots of activities that you can join in. However, food is average to below average. Also, ocean view rooms are not easy to get. It is a long way to town & cabs can get pricey. IMHO, unless you can get a rock bottom price, I'd keep looking.

Based on the answers you provided you may want to check out the Occidental Grand.

and it will be functional at the very least. I wouldn't let a damaged pier be a deterrent. I would not recommend the Reef Club as an alternative.

Casa Mexicana, Vista del Mar, Villas las Anclas, Hotel Cozumel, Casa del Mar, Villa Blanca, La Ceiba, Fiesta Americana, and there are the nicer AI's further south.

But again, Caribe Blu will be fine with an operational pier by next month.
