Anyone have experience with Hotel Meson San Miguel? Looks like a great price on funjet.com but that might mean a pretty tacky place.

Just stayed there Nov. 19 -25. This hotel has been there for many years. My wife calls it a diver's hotel. There was one outlet in the entire room that would work my computer, the television, and/or the hair dryer and the charger for my camera.
We stayed on the 3rd floor and the ice machine is a freezer on the 1st. floor filled with bag ice. There are no mini-frig's or microwaves.
The rooms were clean, the service; lobby and maid were excellent. Corona's are $1 in the bar and they have a nice pool.
If you're planning on renting a car you will not be able to park near the hotel because of the constuction on the main street.
The Hacienda San Miguel has a full kitchen and a nice courtyard with excellent service. No phones. Have stayed there three times. Pick up a few things at the Chedraui and then you have the option to cook or eat out.
We won't be staying at Meson again. One or two nights would be okay but not for a week. Just too spartan for our needs.

I also just had a customer that was staying there. He complained of no hot water, inconvenient for parking or taking taxi because of the construction (which will be going on until Carnival Eve I suspect, and telephone communications were impossible. He did not receive one message that I left for him and often I would call and there would simply be no answer at the hotel after 20 or so rings. This presented a real problem since we had a norte and I could not get in touch with him to let him know.
It's a budget hotel, but IMO, not worth the savings.

There is a review board of the hotel. Christi is right on the construction by the waterfront. Its a mess right now.
