Hello everyone, have a brand new 8mm Neo dive hood that I’m struggling to get on. Should I soak it in warm water or how else can I stretch the neoprene?

Where is it too tight? Did you get it fully on or stop before your noggin got through the neck hole?

Stretch it over a tank for a period of time if you have one handy to open up the neck a bit. Otherwise you may have just bought the wrong size.

Also, different brand hoods fit differently for the same size and for different thicknesses. Go try a bunch on until you find what you like.

Didn’t get my head through the neck, the inside neoprene is bone dry so it just sticks to my hair.

Get it wet and see what happens. Depending on how I feel I'll wet my head/face before squeezing into my drysuit neck seal and subsequently my hood. They get a bit more stretchy as you wear it more often and the neoprene breaks down.

I use reef save hair conditioner to help get into my thicker wetsuits that have the hood attached. I mix some conditioner with water in a spray bottle and spray it on my suit and skin, slides right on. My wife has a ton of hair and putting on the hood is a problem for her but this trick helps. Also when she stores her suit she puts a soccer ball in the hood which helps for the next time she puts in on.

Stretch it out with a 80cuft cylinder (11L ?) for a day or two. Wet it if you want as well. If that doesn't fix it then it's too small.

Conditioner. Reef safe, as suggested above, or the largest value sized you can find. Coat the inside.

Signed,
Dude with huge head and small neck and half a meter of hair.

If your hood is unlined get a lined one and if it is lined and stretched, pull harder
