So we're getting married on 17th July and then setting off for Cancun on the 20th. Aside from a beautiful 5* resort I've heard the diving in Mexico is also pretty good!

Can anyone offer any advice as to where we should be looking to dive etc? I know there is some diving in the Cancun area but have also heard great things about the Cozumel area.

Is is best to just find a local outfit and dive with them or do any of the Cozumel / Playa del Carmen firms do pick ups from Cancun? Or is it worth sorting out our own transportation and making our way to Playa del Carmen? So many choices!

Any advice gratefully received as we haven't got a lot of time to sort this out and I really would like to make it special for my fiancée!

Thanks!
Karl

Ben and Jorge at ScopioDivers.com have a lot of fans here. We've not dove with them (we had a two tank dive planned but had to cancel at the last minute) but expect to do so the next time we're in the area.

Personally, I can recommend Alvaro from AlwaysDiving.com. He's great.

Both do pickups and both dive the whole area, including the cenotes.

Yep, I agree. Ben and Jorge are fantastic. I dive with them everytime I go down. Always something new up their sleeveless tee's. Top notch customer service and you will not be disappointed. Cozumel is a lllloooonnnnggggg day trip! However, if you want to go over, just let them know. There is plenty to see on the mainland and reefs. Also depending on your experience, you gotta do a cenote. AWESOME!!

BTW, congrats on your marriage! I wish you a long and properous life together!

check out their website. Scorpio Divers // Scuba Diving // Diving the way it should be.// Scuba Diving Cancun Puerto Morelos Cozumel Cenotes and you can contact Ben at benrmooney@yahoo.co.uk!

I sure hope you have great weather. Been kinda marginal the last couple of weeks with the tropical storms.

Oh yeah I've read about Scorpio divers and seen their website, I'll take a look and buzz them an email. Thanks for the advice!

So looking forward to this holiday!

Good luck and good weather!

Yes, Ben will pick you up and deliver you back home everyday. If you are from merry ole England then you definitely need to chat up Al Mason. He can get you some discount cards and other stuff. Brits In Cancun Holiday & Hotel Discounts in Cancun, Mexico Both Ben and Al are great to party with...although, I know you'll be tending to your new bride! Oh yeah...Al is a Manxie....

Hi Karl,

i will get married at the same day and im going to cancun on the 20th, and im looking for some advices too. Wich hotel will you stay?

For hotels I can recommend a few:

Dreams: excellent location, all inclusive, very close to the "party zone" plus dolphins in the hotel you can watch them for free, swimming with them has a 70 usd fee.

MÉ by Melia:Beautiful hotel, near the shopping center "La Isla" the pool is great and the service second to none. Amazing food. Cons: not all inclusive.

GR Solaris: Excellent price, all inclusive good service, nice hotel, food is good, the best value for the money that I've ever seen. The only "but" is that is far from the party zone area, but the bus is only a few steps from the door.

Diving is no brainier: Scorpio Divers, the best option.

Also, check out the snorkeling with Whalesharks at that time of year. You can go out with an authorized charter , out of Cancun, or Isla Mujeres, a small island just offshore.
