Has anyone had any experience with soloing in Honduras (Roatan or Utila)?

Looking at doing a few solo shore dives (single + pony) in addition to the regular boat dives. No night or deep (>90 ft) dives, just the typical, open water, photograph the pretty life kinda dive.

I am wondering about pony rental availability, certification requirements, and policing. If anyone had alternative suggestions I would appreciate that too.

Thanks

Never had any problems solo diving at CoCoView Resort. Most of my dives there were solo. Not sure about policies elsewhere.

Coco View will or at least they let me. Have been there several times. I am S.D.I. solo certified. But never had to prove it there. Other places should if you got the cert and the gear.

I don't have the certification. From what I have gathered in the Central American forum people just suit up and go at CCV. I still have to ask about the pony rental although many have stated that the dive without redundant gear on the shore dives.

I would feel comfortable to 40-60 ft without a pony (shore dives) - otherwise I guess I would buddy up (i.e. boat dives).
