Someone informed me that they just purchased a Hollis ATS BCD. I read that the integrated weight system is 10 lbs. Does this mean I need a weight belt with this or can I attach additional weights to it? Has anyone ever had any experience with this and how comfortable it is?

Excuse the 101 questions, I am a new Diver.

Thanks

How much weight do you normally dive with? The integrated weight system can hold 10 lbs. It does not come with it. Your OW instructor should have gone over proper weighting with you and helped determine how much weight you need now. They also should have shown you how to do your own buoyancy checks. If they did not they left something out of your classes.

I'm not sure you read my question. It had nothing to do with my training or whether weights came with my belt. Good luck with instructing others

JMM, I have been looking at Hollis BC, too. We have a local dealer. There are two weight pockets that hold 10 pounds each. If you need over 20 pounds of lead, I suppose you could go with a belt. I don't have a reason to use that much lead.

I'm impressed with the Hollis HD BC. That has rear weight pockets to hold an additional 10 pounds of lead. I don't need 30 pounds of lead, but a little trim weight back there is nice. This dealer has that BC for $495, and it has more-better-everything than BC's costing a lot more.

Good luck with it.
