I'll say sorry right off the bat for the length of this post... was never to great at condensing my thoughts...
(in resume... cancun= good scorpio divers=very good)

Since I had such a great time diving in Cancun with Scorpio Divers, I thought i would write a review of my first dive trip.

I chose to dive with Scorpio Divers based on reviews from Scuba Board and on the clarity of their web site. I exchanged several e-mails with Jorge and he would respond practically instantly ( I now know that thats because of his trusty Blackberry that he carries everywhere... except in the water). He told me that he would organize everything and that the only thing i had to do was to show up in the lobby the morning of day after i landed (from Quebec). I was so excited of diving that i didn't mind what kind of dives i would be doing so i left that to Jorge and Ben to figure it out.

So the first day of diving was 2 dives of calm shallow drift dives on two different reefs (Black Tip and Flag). During these dives we saw a multitude of fish including puffer fish, barracudas, eels, stone fish and those damn lion fish just to name a few. The dive group was kept very small for all dives. About 4 divers max! That is something that Jorge prides himself since that way he can offer excellent personal service for everyone. I came back at the hotel at around 2ish in the afternoon.

On the second day, things started to get a bit crazy. The previous day Jorge and the two other divers said that we would be doing a DAWN dive. So they picked me up 4 AM and we headed to Puerto Morelos when it was still dark. We geared up with the help of our flashlights and we were in the water before the sun got up. In the water, it was amazing to see at first practically no fish besides a huge turtle. As the sun rose, so did the fish. I liked seeing the formations of the schools of fish. It sure was hard to wake up but it was SO worth it. So after the dive, we headed to Playa del Carmen to go do 2 Bull Shark Dives. Since it was so early, once arrived to playa del carmen, Jorge brought us to an amazing beach were we napped, swam and appreciated the ¨scenary:eyebrow:¨. The Bull Shark dives were completely amazing. On both dives about 15-20 sharks came close to us and we got to observe them in their own territory. Their behaviour was very calm as we were not feeding them. I guess they were just curious. Lets hope they don't get all fished-out because they are wonderful animals.

Okay so on the third day, we were suppose to go to cozumel to do two wall dives and a wreck dive. Mother nature had other plans for us since winds became to strong and the cozumel port closed for the day. As soon as Jorge got the phone call ( because we were already on our way) he told us what was up and organized 3 dives in two different cenotes ( Namatee and Chikin Ha). I was maybe sad not to dive cozumel but i was amazed on how fast Jorge change plans and organized the day differently. Both cenotes were very different but both were amazing

So for my last day of diving, Jorge and his friends (which i now consider my own friends) went to Dos Ojos and did two dives. The clarity of water and the rock formations were beautiful. What a great dive trip

If somebody is looking for a good dive opp in Cancun, i would not hesitate to recommend Scorpio Divers. Jorge and Ben run a small safe layed back dive operation. They picked me up every day at my hotel on time and sometimes they came early. They organized all my dives making sure that i would enjoy and see the most of the yucatan peninsula. They also brought me to local restaurants which were all good but maybe a bit spicy!! Anyways i could go on and on

Thanks Jorge, Sergio, Charlie for everything

Sounds like you had a great time! Especially with those nice SI's....;)

Excellent report, also! Yes, that is one thing that you can always count on with Ben and Jorge. You arrive as a client and leave as a friend. My family and I dove with them the first week of Sept. Jorge and I did, I don't remember, perhaps a 75 minute dive taking pictures.

Two of my daughters, one daughter's finace and my son were all trained by Ben. My son got his advanced certification that trip. I'm hoping to check out the Alacranes on my next trip and maybe the Chinchorros. With a little luck, I'm trying for March or April.
