LoL hey guys, just from one lazy diver to another. Guess what I just read in my dive magazine (delivered today) They released a digital dive log, its much like a palm pilot. It has all your logs, a gps system, and a place for digital signatures from your dive buddies, plus alot more goodies.

Im getting it, it retails at 600 dollars. Im sure you can find it for less money.

Im sorry for those who already knew about this, I just found out.

EEk.

My £4 for a 50 dive paper log books suddenly looks good value for money!

Scubaroo:
Is this something you take on a dive with you, or a handheld device you manually log stuff into after the dive?

Well after further reading the article, you can buy the whole device itselft or you can download all the content onto your palmpilot for 49 dollars, which seems like the better way to go. But I may want to buy the whole thing itself incase they make a housing for it.

If i carried a pda or electronic log on a dive boat with me it'd last roughly 20 minutes before being destroyed either by kit landing on it, people landing on it or salt water or rain getting in it.

I hate to go off topic, but I noticed you did alot of diving in the UK. I was just wondering if youve ever done any diving off the beaches in Normandy where the invasion took place, if theres anything interesting to see? I do understand Normandy is quite aways from the UK but I figured it was worth the question.

I'm hoping the make underwater housings for Palm Pilots. There's much than you can do once that happens.

Dive logs, deco software on the fly, once they have the air intergated waterproof palm, I'm there.

Sadly i havent. Ive never in fact been to France (i prefer to fly over it to some place warmer!).

There is a lot of diving off Normandy on the wrecks there and Dive (or Diver, one of them) magazine did a special on it for the D-day memorials. As far as i know you can get day boats and occasional liveaboards there for diving. Im not sure about shore diving.
