I thought this would be as good a place as possible on here to see if you guys might be interested to take a quick look through something as you might be able to help?

To cut a long story short, I've had a 27 year love affair with sharks (I am now 31) and like a lot of people have always harboured a dream of spending my life working with sharks. So, one Monday morning, yet another where I woke up dreading another week in the office, thought "screw that" and quit!

For the last two years I have been working on a shark based project and decided to take a huge risk, gamble everything and go for it, starting off by making a film about my story and that of the positive relationship humans share with sharks, this is part one of a much wider series, all of which aimed at inspiring ordinary people to follow their dreams and ambitions and also present a vital conservation method in a very different way...

As insurmountable a task and as perhaps stupid a decision this may at first seem it's not actually that crazy. I have no experience of making feature length films but last week secured an endorsement with Canon, have been focussed by the BBC and regional radio and newspapers, DIVER magazine and have the support of very many industry pros and experts including Lesley Rochat, Fourth Element, Shark Diver, Richard Theiss, The Shark Conservation Society, AfriOceans and many others...

What has this got to do with you? Well I'm in the process of fundraising to make this film which will be shot on equipment available to the ordinary consumer. I have a page on Indiegogo and also an official website and blog which is detailing my journey, as I am a new user I can't post links yet however, if you are interested to have a look, learn a bit more, share with friends, maybe even donate in return for some cool stuff then the project is called "From the Office to the Ocean and if you google it you'll find the website and blog easily, for the indiegogo page pop that in the search too...

Sorry to blurt all this out in post 1! I'm just an ordinary guy trying to make something of his life and do something positive for sharks, inspiring others to do so along the way and maybe you can help?

I'll post the proper links when I get the dizzy heights of 5 posts :eyebrow:

Thanks for reading!

Hi O2O,

Good on you for going for it! Courageous and sounds like it's working out for you. I'll check out your sites and perhaps even donate.

Where you based in the UK BTW?

John

Thanks guys, things are definitely heading in the right direction, it's a tough slog, financially crippling but it was never gonna be easy and I guess the story becomes more interesting the more difficult it is! I have however, returned from a meeting in London today which was hugely positive and I'm confident giant strides are on the horizon!

I'm from Manchester but based in Leeds John, that is until Friday anyway as homelessness becomes reality and I am destined to around 12 months of sofa surfing! My life is hectic and stressful but I wouldn't ever change the decision I made, I am of the opinion that success should be earned and more importantly, the message of shark conservation os one which is worth all the personal upheaval!

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

Will do mate :cool2:

It's a really exciting project and hopefully, if the timing is right there will be some pretty awesome news coming out via the film!

Oh wow, just saw this, will repost on FB too. So brave!

Thought I'd post a little update!

Last week I filmed segments of a "dream sequence" at the world famous Pinewood Studios (blog with video here)

This week I should hopefully be flying out to the Balearics to do pre-production on a short film I will be making with production due to start in April and which will be available to stream (hopefully) for free online. Of course I'll post the links here as and when.

For those of you who've already had a look at my story and what I'm doing, it's great to see some more progress, feeling good with everything :)
