Hi everyone, I'm Roger, a new diver from Victoria. I'm in my late twenties finally picking up diving as I've always been interested but some relatives started this past summer and I saw how much they like it so that gave me motivation to try. So far I've only had one open water dive, which didn't go well due to not enough weight and a cold I didn't realize I was getting, and I'm half-way through my PADI OW course, but I'm already loving it.

I've already been reading a bunch of the forums, a couple books, etc, and I'm looking forward to improving my skills for recreational diving and see if I like a Hogarthian set-up at all, which I didn't even know about before I read this board.

Roger,

Welcome to ScubaBoard. I would worry about your first Open Water dive experience, but use it as a learning block in whcih to grow from. I use to get real sea sick...even puked while doing the confined space skills in the pool. When I went to Mexico to do the open water skills, I pucked so many times that it took me six tries to finish. With time, patience and more diving my body finally realized that hey this underwater-pressure thing is OK. Now whenever I take a business trip I take my dive gear with me just to get in a few more dives...10 within the last two trips.

Have fun and enjoy your diving...

Welcome to SB, Roger - sounds like we both discovered scuba at the same time in our lives. Best of luck finishing your OW - once you get shot of that cold, you'll be fine! ;)
