Hi all

PADI AOW here in the North East UK (Stockton on Tees)

Haven't logged a dive since the back end of 2000 when we moved back home from Barbados! Was having a reminisce last week looking through old photos and a few dive videos I did when I was there and decided it's time I got my feet wet again!

It's my wife's 40th this year so I'm surprising her with a week back in Barbados in December, just round the corner from where we used to live!!! Also means I can re-visit a couple of my old favourite dives while we are there!

Have a couple of challenges to overcome, for one I'm going to have to replace most of the (sadly expensive, I kept all the inexpensive ones!) bits of kit I sold over the years since I was in the Caribbean. I also need to get on a refresher course of some description and get a few dives logged before we go out, particularly as the one wreck I'm desparate to dive again is the SS Stavronikita which, whilst not being technical, bottoms out at 120ft/37m.

My biggest challenge though is going to be my weight and fitness... I piled weight on when I gave up the ciggies in 2001, then lost it again and got myself fit and then blew my right knee out playing squash in 2004 and again piled weight on as I couldn't excercise! Knee is pretty much fine now so..... I have 56 pounds to lose over the next 6 months to get back to what I class as a reasonable size and level of fitness....

Wish me luck!

Paul
