I would be very glad to receive any feedback re diving Marsa Shagra Eco-Village (South Egypt) in December. I was there in May 2011, later in Sharm in September and intend to go back to Shagra in December. The tent experience was awsome but I am wondering how many layers of blankets and socks takes to stay warm during the December nights. Although daytime air and water temperatures (with a 7 mm wetsuit I presume !) seem quite acceptable, I wonder if it is worth a try ...

Grateful for any feedback and looking forward to talk about my passion with "connaisseurs"...

Mermaid, Welcome to Scubaboard. Sorry I have no info concerning your proposed dive sites but I do have a warm place in my heart for Switzerland. My grand father was a Swiss colonist to America and was from the Zurich area. His home was the large house (formerly a monestary) at the public boat landing in Kilchberg. Hope you enjoy your trip. Dave

Hey Roxanne,

tks much for the advice. Will do ... Being an artist and diving as much as you seem to ... hm... needooo ! I'll check your art one of these days.
Have fun !
Denise (btw: I took a "hut" option.. Better safe than sorry, as my friend Sarah -who lives there and whom I could finally talk to - told me as it might get quite windy and cool at night !)

Thanks ScubaBB (does that stand for Brigitte Bardot ?? ;-) lol - actually if that's you, you look a little like her),

Croatia ... hmmm ... sweet childhood memories... holidays on the island "Brac" with my parents. Last year I was supposed to sail the Dalmatian coast with friends but plans had to be cancelled unfortunately ! Hopefully next year ...

How is the diving in Croatia. I heard about some pretty neat "cave dives" ??

Do vidjenia (I know this is srbsko-krvastsky, but I'm sure you'll understand !)

Hey Dave,

Thanks for sharing ... Zurich is special to our family's heart too. Our whole family is from the Zurich area, my mother spent a lot of time there, visiting her mother and to me it is one of the most wonderful cities worldwide (how modest for a Swiss !). However, although I speak "Switzerdütsch", as it is my mother tongue, I grew up in the french part of Switzerland and actually never lived in the German part, but spend many weeks there, every year with my grand-parents, in a city called Winterthur (for American standards it would rather be a town !). In Kilchberg we had a far away relative living. Beautiful area.... (one of the most wealthy in CH !).

Anyways tell me about your dive experiences. Where do you mostly dive? Mexico ? Where else ? What are your favs on this planet. My knowledge is yet limited to the Red Sea (which is fab !! must be said, although getting overly crowded in some places !) and the Maldives (oh ! and one dive in a Swiss lake, but it was bloody cold !).

Cheers and thanks for the news
Denise
